Before preparing the request

  • Verify the target and connector identities.
  • Confirm the path evidence matches the relationship you understand.
  • Ask whether this connector is the right person, not merely the highest-ranked person.
  • Use a specific reason for the introduction.
  • Stop if the route is weak, stale, or socially inappropriate.

Before external outreach

  • Read the full draft and remove unsupported claims.
  • Keep the ask short enough to evaluate and forward.
  • Give the connector a genuine way to decline.
  • Avoid sharing sensitive relationship or workspace data.
  • Confirm the external channel and recipient yourself.

After outreach

  • Update Introd only when an event is confirmed.
  • Do not mark a reply, meeting, or outcome based on a plan or assumption.
  • Avoid repeated nudges when someone has declined, opted out, or not resolved a previous request.
  • Close or archive stale records so the pipeline remains trustworthy.
The introduction tracker is useful only when its state matches reality. See Track introduction requests.
